Market law can be defined as a system of rules whichcreate the legal structure for corporate conduct on the market. It's a legal framework for the establishment of companies, competition, marketing, pricing, product design, terms, etc. The market's core area consists of two legislative complex, competition law and marketing law with the Market Court, a unifying special court, as the highest authority. Market law is fully harmonized within the EU. The recent implementation in Sweden was in 2008 through the introduction of the Marketing Act (2008:486).

Since 1971 has there have been legal provisions in Sweden about unfair and unacceptable marketing. The law on unfair marketing was updated in 1976 and the name was changed to the Marketing Act. Since then, the law has been EU adapted in several rounds under the 90s, 2002 and 2004. The current Marketing Act is based on a full harmonization to EU regulations and took affect 1st April 2008. The Swedish competition law has also been revised and gradually tightened. It got a European standard by the Competition Act (1993:20 and last 2008:579).
